Pattern Note: (Corrected 10/31/2024) Similar to Bert Quimby’s Galloping Ghost streamer, as described in Bates, Joseph D ,Jr. Streamer Fly Tying and Fishing. Galloping Ghost differs as it has silver tag, red tail, orange body with silver embossed tinsel, throat is more orange than yellow, and wing has only 2 Bali duck feathers. Note Galloping Ghost is a variant of Jesse Wood, which has embossed tinsel body and furnace throat, red tail

This fly also appears in Forgotten Flies (Schmookler & Sils) p. 378. Framed specimen in the Joseph Bates-William Cushner collection at the American Museum of Fly Fishing, accession # 1985.001.160. Examination of this specimen identified there is a tag of flat silver tinsel. Joseph Bates claimed this fly was tied circa 1925 by Carrie Stevens in the presence of Herb Welch, and later gifted to Bates by Stevens.
